These limitations will probably keep GB in the toy category vs serious tool, but it was fun hitting the wall on what could be done. The built-in FX are only slapped on the master bus. Also there's no automation recording of track volume and mutes. Tempo and key is only global, you can't set different scenes at different tempos. The downsides I've found is that although there's some sort of tempo analysis/time stretching going on, you don't get to edit that info. You can record audio directly into a cell and even import whole songs from itunes. There's the usual FX like filters, beat-repeat, delay, etc with an x/y control.but there's an actual dedicated automation track for the built-in FX on the timeline so you can edit your FX moves afterwards.ĥ. You can record your clip (cell) launching performance to a linear timeline similar to Ableton and flip between session view (live loops) and arrangement (tracks view).Ĥ. A clip (cell is what they call it) can be audio or midi.ģ. Not only does GB now do clip launching but it also has scene launching.Ģ. Here's some features I found missing in other apps.ġ. I just started to play around with the new 'Live Loops' mode. In one update, Garageband has completely leapfrogged over Novation's Launchpad app and is now the closest thing to Ableton on the Ipad.
